Content & Development	Beginning - Content is incomplete. - Major points are not clear and /or persuasive. - Few questions answered.	Approaching - Major points are addressed, but not well supported. - Responses are inadequate or do not address assignment. - Some questions answered.	Meeting - Content is accurate and persuasive. - Major points are stated. - Content and purpose of the writing are clear. - Most questions answered.	Exceeding - Content is comprehensive, accurate, and persuasive. - Major points are stated clearly and are well supported. - All questions answered.
Format and Paragraph Structure	Beginning - Paper lacks many elements of correct formatting. - Paper is inadequate in length.	Approaching - Paper follows some guidelines. Evidence of some proper paragraph structure. Paragraphs are either too short or contains too many sentences.	Meeting - Paper follows designated guidelines. - Paper is the appropriate length as described for the assignment. -Format is acceptable.	Exceeding - Paper is the appropriate length as described for the assignment. -Format enhances readability of paper.
Evidence of Revision and Editing	Beginning - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. ARMS was not used.	Approaching - Paper contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. Very little evidence of ARMS.	Meeting - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed with minor errors that do not detract from the readability of the work. Adequate level of ARMS used. Orginality and Creativity	Beginning - Writing contains many cliche ideas and an uninspired style.	Approaching - Writing contains a few creative ideas but style is mostly uninspired.	Meeting - Writing is somewhat creative. Some new and imaginative ideas. Good writing.	Exceeding - Writing is extremely creative. Ideas and style is refreshing and imaginative. Talented writing.
