Poor - Content is incomplete. - Tone and emotion are not clear, no quotes are used. 0-41 points	Fair - Content is not comprehensive. - Tone and emotion are addressed, but not supported by 2 quotes. - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought. -Level of effectiveness is not communicated thoroughly 42-49 points	Good - Content is comprehensive and supported by at least 2 quotes. - Major points are stated clearly and are well supported. -Thoroughly evaluates effactiveness of devices - Content and purpose of the writing are clear. 50 points
Organization & Structure 20 pts	Poor - Organization and structure detract from the message of the writer. - Paragraph is disjointed and lack transition of thoughts. 0-11 points	Fair - Structure of the paragraph is not easy to follow. - Paragraph transitions need improvement. 12-19 points	Good - Structure of the paragraph is clear and easy to follow. 20 points
Format 10 pts 2-5 pages in length, opening and closing paragraphs contain clear thesis, format is easy to follow	Poor - Paper lacks many elements of correct formattting. - Paragrpah is inadequate/excessive in length. 0-6 points	Fair - Paper follows most guidelines. - Paper is over/ under page length requirements. 7-9 points	Good - Paper follows designated guidelines. - Paper is the appropriate length as described for the assignment. 10 points
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling 20 pts	Poor - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. - Language uses jargon or conversational tone. 0-11 points	Fair - Paper contains less than 2 grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Language lacks clarity or includes the use of some jargon or conversational tone. 12-19 points	Good - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Language is clear and precise; sentences display consistently strong, varied structure. 20 points
