Content & Development 5 pts	Minimal - Content is incomplete. Few major points, if at all. Strays off topic, and little is understood about the character.	Fair - Content is incomplete. - Major points are not clear and /or persuasive. -Character not well developed.	Good - Content is somewhat stated. - Major points are addressed, but not well supported. -Character is believable. -Purpose is not completely clear.	Excellent - Content is accurate. - Major points are stated clearly. - Character is well developed and understood easily by audience. - Content and purpose of the writing are clear.
Organization & Structure 5 pts	Minimal - Organization and structure make the reading unclear. Paragraphs are non-existent and/or do not relate to one another.	Fair - Organization and structure detract from the message of the writer. - Paragraph is disjointed and lack transition of thoughts.	Good - Structure of the paragraph is somewhat easy to follow. - Paragraph transitions need improvement.	Excellent - Structure of the work is clear and easy to follow.
Format 5 pts	Minimal - Paper lacks most of the correct formatting guidelines. - Paragraphs are short, and so is the paper.	Fair - Paper lacks many elements of correct formattting. - Paragrpah is inadequate in length.	Good - Paper follows most guidelines. - Paper is under required length.	Excellent - Paper follows interesting, easy to follow format. - Paper is the appropriate length as described for the assignment.
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling 5 pts	Minimal - Paper contains many grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.	Fair - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors.	Good - Paper contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Language lacks clarity.	Excellent - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Language is clear and precise; sentences display consistently strong, varied structure.
