The discussion comments are not consistently thorough in addressing the question and/or topic. The comments do not consistently show respect to his/her classmates or fail to consistently further or deepen the discussion.
Good

The discussion comments are usually thorough in addressing the question and/or topic in a way that respects his/her classmates and furthers or deepens the discussion but some comments need to be more relevant.
Exemplary

Student is consistent in thoroughly addressing the question and/or topic in a way that respects his/her classmate and furthers or deepens the discussion.

Although there is some support for conclusions made, the support is either not clear or not fully developed.

Student provides support for conclusion although not consistently.

Student provides consistent support from course resources and/or life experience to support his/her conclusions.
Thoroughness

Were your comments substantial enough to address the topic yet succinct (nicely brief)?

Unacceptable

Discussion comments are not adequately thought out before the speaker speaks.
Acceptable

The discussion comments lack a thorough awareness of the topic. The comments are either not developed or are too verbose.
Good

Most discussion comments are completed well but some comments are weak or not fully developed or too wordy.
Exemplary

All discussion comments are well thought out, yet succinct (brief) at the same time.
