	Poor 75 pts	Fair 85 pts	Good 95 pts
Content & Development 40 pts	Poor - Content is incomplete and focuses more on summary than synthesis, some of which may include errors in detail or interpretation. - Major points are not clear, and wandering content reveals lack of purpose. No evidence to back up statements.	Fair - Content is not comprehensive, and focuses on summarizing material rather than synthesizing. - Major points are addressed, but not well supported. New ideas are introduced, but then dropped without examination. - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought.	Good - Content is comprehensive, authentic, and fully developed. Subject matter is explored and synthesized. - Major points are stated clearly and are well supported with examples and evidence. Thoughts are followed through to completion. - Purpose of the writing is clear.
Organization & Structure 20 pts	Poor - Organization and structure detract from the message of the writer. - Paragraphs are disjointed and lack sufficient transitions between thoughts.	Fair - Structure of paragraphs is not easy to follow. - Paragraph transitions need improvement.	Good - Structure of paragraphs is clear and easy to follow. -Transitions between paragraphs reveal logical progression to the paper as a whole.
Format 20 pts	Poor - Paper lacks many elements of correct formattting. - Paper is inadequate in length by more than 1/4 page.	Fair - Paper follows most formatting guidelines. - Paper is under word/page length by less than 1/4 page.	Good - Paper follows designated guidelines for formatting. - Paper is the appropriate length as described for the assignment.
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling 20 pts	Poor - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. - Uses slang, generalities, or conversational tone.	Fair - Paper contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Language lacks clarity or includes the use of some jargon or conversational tone.	Good - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Language is clear and precise; sentences display consistently strong, varied structure.
