Content & Development Body Paragraph 2 gives three internal factors and one external factor that led to the fall of Rome. Paragraph 3 Develops on three ways the Roman empire wasn't so great: slavery, social class warfare, and patriarchy 4 paragraph is about Romes legacy and lasting acheivement: In language, archetecture, and law.	Excellent - Content is comprehensive, accurate, and persuasive. - Major points are stated clearly and are well supported. - Research is adequate, timely and addresses course concepts. - Content and purpose of the writing are clear.	Fair - Content is not comprehensive and /or persuasive. - Major points are addressed, but not well supported. - Research is inadequate or does not address course concepts. - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought.	Not Good - Content is incomplete. - Major points are not clear and /or persuasive.
Organization & Structure paragraph 1 introduces Theses clearly and each point becomes the topic sentence of the essay body. Each point is developed with 3 to 4 specific examples with explanation. The 5 paragraph or conclusion restates theses and concludeds essay	Excellent - Structure of the paragraph is clear and easy to follow. There are logical transitions from one thought to another	Fair - Structure of the paragraph is not easy to follow. - Paragraph transitions need improvement.	Not Good - Organization and structure detract from the message of the writer. - Paragraph is disjointed and lack transition of thoughts.
Format 5 paragraph essay with minimum 8 sentences paragraphs	Excellent - Paper follows designated guidelines. - Paper is the appropriate length as described for the assignment.	Fair - Paper follows most guidelines. - Paper is over/ under word length.	Not Good - Paper lacks many elements of correct formattting. - Paragrpah is inadequate/excessive in length.
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling	Excellent - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Language is clear and precise; sentences display consistently strong, varied structure.	Fair - Paper contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Language lacks clarity or includes the use of some jargon or conversational tone.	Not Good - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. - Language uses jargon or conversational tone.
