This research paper succeeds in reading like a confidently finished product. The writing has been edited, stylized, and completed with an holistic awareness of the assignment, structure, formatting and audience.

- Content is incomplete.
- Major points are not clear
- Unclear if writer understands purpose (assignment).
Fair/Good (13 - 16 points)

- Content is not comprehensive.
- Major points are addressed, but not well supported. (Topic sentences present but not supported).
-Concepts are somewhat defined but unclear.
- Research is inadequate or does not address primary concepts.
- Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose (assignment) and clarity of thought.
Good/Excellent (17 - 20 points)

- Content is comprehensive, accurate, and addresses the assignment.
- Ideas and concepts are presented in a clear and understandable manner.
- Major points are stated clearly and are well supported.
- Research is adequate, timely and addresses primary concepts.
- Content and purpose of the writing are clear.
Organization & Structure

Poor (12 and below points)

- Organization and lack of structure detract from the message of the writer.
- Paragraphs disjointed and lack an awareness of transition of thoughts.
- Topic sentences missing or unclear.
- Supporting sentences too lengthy/wordy, or repetitive.
-Sections do not comtain the primary elements that they should.
Fair/Good (13 - 16 points)

- Structure of the paragraphs are not easy to follow.
- Paragraph transitions need improvement.
-Sentences need more attention to purpose and clarity.
Good/Excellent (17 - 20 points)

- Structure of the writer's paragraphs is clear and easy to follow.
- Paragraphs provide supporting sentences that speak to a clear topic sentence in each paragraph.
Format

Poor (12 and below points)

-Paper follows most assignment guidelines.
-Proper heading included, but not accurate.
- Paper is significantly over/ under page length.

-Some citation errors.
Fair/Good (13 - 16 points)

- Paper follows all designated guidelines.
Proper heading included.
- Paper is the appropriate length as described for the assignment.
-Citations nearly perfect.
Good/Excellent (17 - 20 points)
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling

Poor (12 and below points)

-Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors.
- Paper contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors.
Fair/Good (13 - 16 points)

- Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct.

Illustration

Poor (12 and below points)

Paper doesn't contain any pictures, graphics, or Illustrations of the symbol as outlined in the requirements.
Fair/Good (13 - 16 points)

Minimal demonstration of effort
Good/Excellent (17 - 20 points)

Demonstrates a solid connection of the illustration as it relates to the symbol's hisotry and researched information.
