Content & Development 50 %	Proficient - Content is comprehensive, accurate, and persuasive. - People and their influence is addressed and well supported. - Content and purpose of the writing are clear.	Adequate - Content includes basic data on individual but it does not cover the complete task. - Research on individual is inadequate or does not address influence on future. - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought.	Emerging - Content is incomplete. - Major points are not clear and /or persuasive to impact of influence. - Parts of required content not addressed
Organization & Response to prompts 30 %	Proficient - Structure of the paper is clear and easy to follow. - Introduction to future goal and those influencing provides sufficient background on how this goal came to be. - Transitions are used to flow between prompts and paragraph topic changes. - Conclusion is logical and flows from the body of the paper.	Adequate - Structure of the paper is not easy to follow. - Transitions between prompts are missing or, if provided, do not preview major points. - Overall impact to future goal is not conclusive	Emerging - Organization and structure detract from the message of the goal and influence impact. - Introduction and/or conclusion is missing. - Prompts not adequately addressed if at all.
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling 20 %	Proficient - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Language is clear and precise; sentences display consistently strong, varied structure.	Adequate - Paper contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Language lacks clarity or includes the use of some jargon or conversational tone.	Emerging - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. - Language uses jargon or conversational tone.
