Speech Final Speech Final For your final we will combining what we have learned this semester. Including: How to give a presentation, using notes and manuscripts, working with a group, conflict management, how to be a leader, informing the audience, persuading the audience, managing fears, using props, interpersonal skills, nonverbal communication skills, listening skills. Your group will be "hosting" a fundraiser with the nonprofit organization of your choice. Tone	Poor The student presents an appearance that they know little of the topic. They have difficulty in answering questions from the audience without stumbling.	Fair The student presents an appearance that they are somewhat knowledgeable of the topic. They can successfully answer SOME questions from the audience without stumbling.	Good The student presents an appearance that they are knowledgeable of the topic. They can successfully answer MOST questions from the audience without stumbling.	Excellent The student presents an appearance that they are extremely knowledgeable of the topic. They can successfully answer questions from the audience without stumbling.
Eye Contact	Poor Student reads all of the editorial with no eye contact.	Fair Student occasionally uses eye contact, but still reads most of editorial without looking at audience.	Good Student maintains eye contact most of the time but frequently returns to the editorial.	Excellent Student maintains eye contact with audience, seldom returnins to the editorial.
Elocution	Poor Student mumbles, incorrectly pronounces terms, and speaks too quietly for students in the back of class to hear.	Fair Student's voice is low. Student incorrectly pronounces words. Audience members have difficulty hearing presentation.	Good Student's voice is clear. Student pronounces most words correctly. Most audience members can hear presentation.	Excellent Student uses a clear voice and correct, precise pronunciation of terms so that all audience members can hear presentation.
Overall Impression	Poor The presenter obviously did not care about what they were doing and did not attempt to make the listener care either.	Fair The presenter was somewhat interesting. Visuals added some value and if PowerPoint slides were used, they may have had too much information or were difficult to read.	Good The presenter for the most part was interesting. Visuals added value and if PowerPoint slides were used, they were easily read.	Excellent The presenter was dynamic and interesting. Visuals added value and if PowerPoint slides were used, they were easily read.
Audience Participation	Poor Student has PC on, puts their head down or talks to other students during the presentation.	Fair Student pays attention to what the speaker says, takes notes but does not ask any questions.	Good Student pays attention to what the speaker says, takes notes and asks questions of at least 1 speaker.	Excellent Student pays attention to what the speaker says, takes notes and asks questions of at least 2 speakers.
Confidence / Effort	Poor Student appears to have not practiced, managed their time, put in effort to research and prepare.	Fair Student appears to have done minimal research and effort for project. They do not seem to have practiced their speech before presenting.	Good Student put in effort for research and visual aides. Their speech seems minimally rehearsed.	Excellent Student is well prepared, visual aides help with their message, they seem relaxed, and prepared for their speech and backup plans.
Non verbals	Poor Speaker leaned on podium, distracting gestures, stumbled..was not prepared	Fair Speaker only occasionally leaned on podium, had fairly good posture, no distractions from speech	Good Student stood up straight, looked at all of the audience, good overall non-verbals	Excellent Student had outstanding<BR> noverbals..nothing could be improved upon
Time	Poor was less than 9 minutes	Fair Was between 9:30 - 10:30 minutes	Good Was between 10:30 - 13:00 minutes.	Excellent Was 13 - 15 minutes
Working with Organization	Poor Answered Less than 5 questions	Fair Answered about 1/2 of the questions	Good Answered almost all of the questions.	Excellent Answered all questions.
Visual Aids	Poor Used 0 visual aides	Fair Used 1 visual aide but it was not quality work or enhanced the performance.	Good Use 2 visual aides but they were not quality or provided minimal to the performance	Excellent Used 2 or more quality visual aides that enhanced the overall purpose of the speech.
