The students will create a poster illustrating internal and external character traits of characters from the Climb.

Character Study	Emerging Skills The poster is seriously lacking the character trait required. There is little understanding of the character.	Below Standards Poster includes a character trait and at least one example from the text. Examples do not clearly relate to the character trait.	Meets Standards Poster includes a defining character trait and at least two examples that generally relate to the trait.	Exceeds Standards The poster includes six illustrations supported by words that demonstrate understanding of three internal and three external character traits. The choices of images to illustrate character traits are well thought out and meaningful.
Work quality/effort	Emerging Skills Work is done with little effort, quality is not what the learner is capable of. It is evident that the work was rushed and little time was spent on the final product. Work is incomplete.	Below Standards Work is done with fair effort, but the quality is still not what the learner is capable of. It is evident that the work was rushed.	Meets Standards The work was done with good effort that shows what the learner is capable of. It is evident that time was put into this poster and presentation.	Exceeds Standards The work exceeds all expectations and shows that the learner is proud of his/her work. The effort that was put into this task is the best it can be by the learner.
Creativity	Emerging Skills Not good use of space on poster. Messy. Lacks color and pictures	Below Standards Not very appealing. Limited use of creative materials. Not alot of color/pictures/design.	Meets Standards Contains a lot of colors, shapes, and appealing design. Shows the student spent time creating an artistic piece.	Exceeds Standards Eye catching. Great use of colors, pictures and spacing on poster. Writing is easy to read or typed. Shows the student can express ideas artistically.
