Clarity	Below Basic/Inadequate Test items are ambiguous or vague to cause confusion on the part of students; Lacks age-appropriate language	Basic/Acceptable Most test items are worded clearly; Some questions are unclear and may use vocabulary at a higher or lower grade level.	Proficient All test items are worded clearly so that students understand the meaning of questions (age-appropriate)
Format/Appearance	Below Basic/Inadequate Layout of the test is unprofessional or difficult to follow	Basic/Acceptable Test layout looks nice and somewhat professional	Proficient Looks very professional, is well organized; groups test items by type; Adequate spacing for student responses
Question difficulty	Below Basic/Inadequate Student does not vary questions. Most questions are simple, easy to answer, involve no deep thought.
