eLearning Project 1 MPAE II
Students will create a host-guest style podcast, 2-3 minutes in duration. Household members will be interviewed, and students will complete the project using Soundtrap.

Students will use common rhythms and simple melodic gestures to compose a 8-16 measure melody for their instrument. Students will also turn in a self reflection describing the cognitive process they used in developing their composition.

MPAE I Project 1A - Intro - Loops
Choose 4 or more loops to make a song. Your song should be a minimum of 8 measures in duration and each loop should be a different instrument (for example, guitar, bass, drums, trumpet). Each instrument or sound should be assigned to its own track. Use at least one instance of "fade in" and at least one instance of "fade out".

Create a mash-up using 2 or more different songs; the songs may be from any genre of music. Tempos and keys must match when you combine sections of the two songs. Your mash-up should be a minimum of 1 minute in duration.

Using a MIDI file you downloaded, create a new song by keeping only 1-2 tracks of the original and then adding at least 2 others. The song's duration stays the same. Be certain to match tempo when you add new material. Original material can be edited as necessary.

MPAE I Project 6 - Ambient Moods
Compose an ambient piece which is a minimum or 3' in duration. Use at least 6 of the loops you selected in 1-day #3 (music and emotion), and any other musical material which is appropriate to your emotions. Select 10 or more images which represent your emotions, and combine the images with your music using WeVideo.

MPAE I Project 7 - 3 loop challenge
Compose a song using the three loops given to the entire class. The song should be a minimum of a minute in duration and should be in AB form with a solo break in between the two sections. All three loops must be used. The solo break must be one of the three loops. Any other material may be added (loops, recorded music, effects, etc). Intro and outro are optional. The A and B sections must be the same duration, the solo break may be any duration.

MPAE I Project 8 - speech editing
Edit a one minute (or longer) speech to exactly 30 seconds. Your speech can be material you record or something you download. Even after removing, editing, or altering words and phrases, the result should sound like regular human speech, without effects or odd clipped words or unnatural pauses. You may choose to produce something serious in nature or something with strange word order and nonsense sentences, up to you!
