Dramatic Performance: The Polar Express

Radial Paper Sculpture
Students will create a paper relief sculpture with radial symmetry, using 3 or more different origami folds and 3 colors or more of paper with accuracy. They will be able to identify balance as a design element with 100% accuracy. Good craftsmanship in folding, gluing, and arranging should be present. Students will discuss their sculpture, explaining what radial symmetry is, identifying lines of symmetry and Grade-appropriate figures, and explain how to measure angles.

Habitats and Communities Poster
Students are to create a poster showing the food chain in a habitat of their choice. They must label organisms as producers, consumers, decomposers and use arrows to show how energy moves through the habitat. The poster must also explain why it is important to protect all the populations within the community.
