As a class, students will rehearse and present a choral reading of "The Polar Express". They will also design and create props and backdrops for their performance.

This rubric provides a guide for grading students in their singing performance during music class.

Students will create a paper relief sculpture with radial symmetry, using 3 or more different origami folds and 3 colors or more of paper with accuracy. They will be able to identify balance as a design element with 100% accuracy. Good craftsmanship in folding, gluing, and arranging should be present. Students will discuss their sculpture, explaining what radial symmetry is, identifying lines of symmetry and Grade-appropriate figures, and explain how to measure angles.

Students are to create a poster showing the food chain in a habitat of their choice. They must label organisms as producers, consumers, decomposers and use arrows to show how energy moves through the habitat. The poster must also explain why it is important to protect all the populations within the community.

Student will read a simple French magazine article and summarize the main ideas in a presentation given to the class.

Students will design a mask, then write a description for it. Descriptions will be randomly distributed to students, who will draw a picture of what they think the mask is supposed to look like. Students will then create their own mask and give an oral presentation describing it.
