Patient Education - Diabetes or Hypertension
The student will prepare a 5 -8 minute education intervention related to educating patients about an assigned diagnosis covered this quarter. The project should include etiology, complications, physical therapy treatments, and secondary prevention concepts. The education intervention will contain information that the student collected during research of the class text and a reliable medical web site.

-The presentation is organized and is not just a list of facts. The project is presented in a dynamic, interactive manner with assigned patient.
Good
-The presentation is clear and logical and contains facts as well as very few mistakes. Clear presentation with some patient interaction.
Fair
-The presentation has some pictures, however they are not relevant to the content. -Some mistakes are made. -Little organization and clarity are used.
-There is little style and is more like a list of facts rather than an interaction.
Poor
-The presentation lacks focus and clarity. Information and pictures are not related to the topic. Very little interaction with patient.
Patient Needs Addressed
Excellent
Project effectively addresses the needs of the patient and presents information in a way the patient can best understand. Checks for understanding.
Good
Project addresses the patient using only medical jargon and terms, minimal use of plain language for the patient. Checks for understanding.
Fair
Project does not effectively address the needs of the patient. 75% of the Information presented at a level too high or low for the patient. Does not check for understanding.
Poor
Patient educational needs not considered, all information presented with strictly medical jargon and no use of plain language. Does not check for understanding.
