Using data

I can use evidence to make changes to speed or direction.

Needs Support

Does not illustrate a push or a pull.
Progressing

Illustrates either a push or a pull.
Meets Standard

Illustrates a push and a pull.
Exceeding Standard

Illustrates a push and a pull, adding in details that show size of force, direction, or other additional knowledge.
Changing speed and direction

I can identify elements which will affect motion and explain the change.

Needs Support

Identified reaction does not match likely result.
Progressing

At least two of the following reactions match the likely result: slow, fast, turn, and stop.
Meets Standard

All of the following reactions match the likely result: slow, fast, turn, and stop.
Exceeding Standard

All of the following reactions match the likely result: slow, fast, turn, and stop. Student provides multiple points where movement may be changed by actions.
Design

I can create a design predicting the motion of an object.

Needs Support

Design shows knowledge of the effect of 1 out of 3: size of push or pull, height of a ramp, and friction.
Progressing

Design shows knowledge of the effect of 2 out of 3: size of push or pull, height of a ramp, and friction.
Meets Standard

Design shows knowledge of the effect of size of push or pull, height of a ramp, and friction.
Exceeding Standard

Design shows knowledge of the effect of size of push or pull, height of a ramp, and friction in a creative manner.
Reasoning

I can use what I see to explain why something happens.

Needs Support

Unable to explain a reaction to a given action
Progressing

Provides an incomplete explanation for a given reaction
Meets Standard

Provides a logical explanation for reaction to a given action
Exceeding Standard
