Ready to work following break or use of sensory strategy, "break in place"	No Attempt at Mastery Student reengaged in activity following sensory break or use of sensory strategy and demonstrated no positive increase in work/attention to task behaviors.	Basic Student reengaged in activity with adult visual and verbal prompting following sensory break or use of sensory strategy and demonstrated calmer body, decrease in agitation, willingness to complete work for at least 30 seconds.	Mastery Student returned from break with visual prompt and demonstrated: calmer body, decrease in agitation willingness to complete work for up to 2 minutes.	Advanced Student returned from break following passive prompt (timer or visual cue) and demonstrated calmer body, decrease in agitation willingness to complete work for up to 5 minutes.
Effort/Time on Task	No Attempt at Mastery Student did not initiate or complete the assignments even with prompting from the teacher.	Basic Student initated the task, but became distracted and needed frequent redirection from the teacher.	Mastery Student initiated and completed the assignment, but needed one redirection from the teacher.	Advanced Student completed the assignments and was not a distraction to other students working around him/her.
Participation	No Attempt at Mastery Student did not participate in the activity at all upon returning from sensory break	Basic Student was slow to participate in the activity. Only participated 50% of class time.	Mastery Student participated in the activity for 75% of class time.	Advanced Student was constantly active and participated in the activity for 90% or more of class time.
