Participation	Excellent Participatant encourages and motivates interaction with other students & instructor, doesn't dominate.	Above Average Initiates and responds to other student & instructor comments.	Average Occasionally responds to other students &/or instructor.	Below Average Responds to instructor prompts only	Poor No participation.
Quality of Response	Excellent Participation relates to main topic and adds new concepts, ideas, or information	Above Average Relates to main topic with some supporting details.	Average Participation clearly relates to main topic, but has a minimum of supporting detail.	Below Average Participation clearly relates to main topic, but lacks details or examples.	Poor Participation contains minimal information or relevancy to main topic.
Respect	Excellent Participant consistently and comfortably discusses differing opinions with respect.	Above Average	Average	Below Average	Poor Participant is negative or demeaning to others. Or is on phone, i-pad, computer, or doing homework.
Critical Thinking	Excellent Participation consistently shows evidence of critical/reflective thinking.	Above Average Participation shows critical thinking/reflective thinking.	Average Participation shows minimal critical thinking/reflective thinking.	Below Average Participation lacks evidence of critical thinking/reflective thinking.	Poor Participation is minimal.
