The purpose of this rubric is to allow the student to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting essay. The student will compare and contrast the book "Hatchet" to the movie "A Cry in the Wild. In preparation for this assignment, the student will have had instruction in the writing process, sentence structure, capitalization, end marks, specific vocabulary words, read the book and viewed the movie.
