This rubric is meant to help guide in the creation of your Capstone Project which includes a PowerPoint presentation. Each category in the far left column represents a component of the project that will be taken into consideration when calculating the final grade for this assignment. Review the rubric carefully before, during and after the creation of the project, to ensure that all intended elements of your powerpoint have been represented and all other criteria have been met.

The slides are not easy to read. The amount of text is too great for the space provided. There is little use of graphics or effects.
Grammar and Mechanics

Excellent

Capitalization and punctuation are correct throughout the presentation. There are no grammatical errors.

There is less than 2 grammatical error on the presentation.

There are less than 4 grammatical errors on the presentation.

Speaker presents in a loud, clear voice and doesn't read from screen.

Does not clearly state the central purpose, arguments, or goals of the projects. Displays lack of focus or detail.

Exemplary

Clearly defines research question/topic and its relevance to occupational therapy/hand therapy. Integrates up to date evidence (within past 5 years) and references throughout project. References are primarily peer reviewed professional journals.
Competent

Research question/topic is loosely related to occupational/hand therapy. Integrates evidence but most references are >5 years old. References are from professionally legitimate resources.
Needs Improvement

Research question/topic is unrelated to occupational/hand therapy. References are out of date >10 old. Most references are from sources that are not peer reviewed or professional and have uncertain reliability.

Information is clear and reasonable. Reader is able to follow the line of reasoning. Information adequately supports the purpose of the project. Writer demonstrates satisfactory knowledge of the subject area.
Needs Improvement

Information is not logically organized and writer looses interest of reader. Content is unclear, inaccurate and/or incomplete. Support for central purpose is weak and writer has only a rudimentary understanding of subject area.
