The purpose of this rubric is to allow the special needs student to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting paragraph. Students need to utilize the keywords to signal compare and contrast.

Capitalization/Punctuation/ Length	Excellent All sentences begin with a capital letter. All sentences have the correct end marks. Paragraph is at least 8-10 complete sentences.	Good Most sentences begin with a capital letter. Most sentences have the correct end marks. Paragraph is 6-7 complete sentences.	Fair Few, if any sentences start with a capital letter.
