Totem Pole Project Totem Pole Project The student will draw a totem pole using at least 5 symbols that represent the student's family or the student. The presentation must be accompanied by a paragraph explaining the symbolism the totem pole depicts. The student will also choose one element from their totem pole to draw to scale on graph paper. Work quality/effort	Level 4 The work done exceeds all expectations. The effort put into this task is the best it can be by the learner.	Level 3 Work is done with good effort that shows the capability of the learner. It is evident that time was put into this project.	Level 2 Work is done with fair effort, but the quality is not what the learner is capable of. It is evident that the work was rushed.	Level 1 Work is done with little effort, shows lack of quality, and may be incomplete. It is evident little time was spent on the final product.
Totem Pole - SYMBOLS	Level 4 There are 6 or more symbols represented on the totem pole. The symbols are authentic and based on the symbol sheet.	Level 3 There are 5 symbols represented on the totem pole. The symbols are authentic and based on the symbol sheet.	Level 2 There are 4 symbols represented on the totem pole, and/or the symbols are not authentic examples from the Pacific Northwest.	Level 1 There is 2 (or no) symbol represented on the totem pole.
Paragraph	Level 4 Paragraph clearly identifies the meaning for each symbol and color. It explains the relationship to the student/family. There are no grammatical errors.
