For Black History Month, the student is to read a biography about black Canadians. Then write and present a biography poster on this important historical figure. This biography includes information about the person's life, what led them to their chosen career or purpose, what contributions they made to society, interesting or unique facts about the person, and the student's reflections about the impact that the person and their contributions.

This rubric is for short writing pieces or journal topics.

Create a visual plot diagram for The Stars Beneath Our Feet. Student Instructions: 1. Separate the story into the Title, Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution. 2. Create an image that represents an important moment or set of events for each of the story components using appropriate scenes, characters and items. 3. Write a detailed description of each of the steps in the plot diagram.

Student Instructions: Create a storyboard that shows how Terry Fox can be considered an everyman hero. Identify events of the story or characteristics of Terry that fit into attributes of an everyman hero. Illustrate examples for Brave; Scared, But Determined; Upstanding Character; Compassionate; and Stands Up for Beliefs. Write a short description below each cell that specifically relates Terry Fox as an everyman hero.

1. Use real life examples of all three types of heat transfer: radiation, conduction, and convection. 2. Use Visuals- picture, demonstration, video (these are ones you create, not downloaded from the internet!) 3. Explain in detail how this is an example of the type of heat transfer and why it is not the other two types.

This is an assignment to teach the student the power of shading values, by drawing two dimensional shapes into three dimensional shaded forms using theme of Remembrance Day.

This is a rubric for an art project on Pablo Picasso. Students observe and discuss Cubist art and focus on portraits. They create a portrait in the Cubist style using only complimentary colours.

Draw artwork/line drawing of horse/knight using grid lines to enlarge appropriately to proper scale and proportion.

Pre-drawings of: house, hand, face,chair. Students are then taught perceptional skills based on Betty Edwards Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain activities that give then knowledge in re-drawing the same subject matters using teachable skills. Students are to use these pre-assessments as a comparison tools after drawing instruction provided during this unit

Inquiry learning in which students create own questions to research a particular aspect of war, investigate causes, impact on children and adults, how people organise themselves to cope with war. This study to develop students' thinking about whether war is necessary to bring peace.

Congratulations! Your production company has landed a multi-million dollar advertising campaign from a social justice group. Using images, music, text and video you must create a two and a half to three minute video discussing a social justice issue that exists (child labour, slave labour, human right violations, etc). To produce your video you will be using the web 2.0 tool Animoto.

This Rubric will assess your performance in bringing together research and designing a poster depicting the life of an explorer. Included in this project will be a report on the individual explorer.
