NY-2.NBT.1 Understand that the digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones.

W&W Module 1: Students are required to answer comprehension questions after class readings. Short response answers must be written or verbalized through the use of NearPod using words from the text to support responses.

Write a 1 paragraph summary including WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY and HOW. Your summary should be neatly written. You should have an introductory sentence that states the topic of the summary. You should use transition words to help with the flow of the paragraph. Proofread and edit your summary.

Guidelines for scoring an expository writing.

Students will create a map flip book illustrating their understanding of their place in the world.

Student will complete a Space Theme All About Me book about themselves. They must include: A description of themselves Science Facts Goals that they have for the future Academic and Behavior. They must include 1 self portrait as an astronaut. A letter to their Teacher (dislikes and likes)

This acrostic poem will be graded on creativity, spelling, and completion. Students were to create an acrostic poem for the key terms and people from chapter 5. (At least 10) The poems must reflect the definition for the term or explain the person.

Students will provide a handwritten Haiku poem along with an illustration. Haiku poem will have three lines. The first line has five syllables, second line has seven syllables and last line has five syllables.

Used to assess the 5 themes of Geography flip book.

Student will complete an All About Me book about themselves. They must include: 5 basic facts about themselves (ie - birthday, number of siblings, where they were born); 5 of their hobbies and/or dislikes; 5 goals that they have for the future. They must include 1 drawn pictures of themselves depicting any of the things discussed in their book (ie - a picture of themselves playing their favorite sport, a picture of themselves celebrating a holiday with their family, etc.)

Students will each write a friendly letter to their teachers, introducing themselves for the 2018-2019 school year.

Compare/Contrast Mixtures and Compounds Paragraph scoring rubric.

The purpose of this rubric is to allow the special needs student to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting paragraph or 3 paragraph essay. Students need to utilize the key words to signal compare and contrast.
