Dr. Hervey's Courses: Attendance & Participation Attendance & Participation This rubric will be used to validate your participation points for each course I teach. The results will be used as a part of your final grade points at the end of the semester. Class participation
	Excellent 10 pts	Good 8 pts	Fair 4 pts	Poor 1 pts
ATTENDANCE 10 pts Comes to class.	Excellent Student always attends classes. (1 excused abs)	Good Student is absent 4 or 5 times. (4 excused abs)	Fair Student is absent 5 to 6 times. (2-4 excused abs)	Poor Student has 7 or more absences (no excuse given)
PUNCTUALITY 10 pts Arrives on time to class. Submission of assignments.	Excellent Student submits on time and is always on time or early for class.	Good Student usually arrives and submits on time or early.	Fair Student sometimes arrives or submits on time.	Poor Student is often late in class and submission.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR 10 pts Participates in class.	Excellent Student often asks questions, actively participates in drills, discussions, dialog preparation and engages in free conversation.	Good Student sometimes asks questions, participates in drills, discussions, dialog preparation and engages free conversation.	Fair Student rarely participates in class, struggles with drills and free conversation.	Poor Student never participates in class, does not participate in drills, dialog preparation and engage in free conversation .
CONDUCT 10 pts Conducts self appropriately and is respectful of the learning environment and other students.	Excellent Student is always respectful of others, does not use cellphone (or other electronic devices) or talk to others during class. Student does not leave class early (or has left w/ excuse) or provide other disruption.	Good Student is usually respectful of others, but may have used their cellphone or another electronic device once. Student may have left class early once w/out excuse.	Fair Student is frequently disruptive of class time. May not be respectful toward others and may have used cellphone or another electronic device more than once during class. Reads non-course related material or prepares HW for other classes. Has left class early more than once.	Poor Student usually is disruptive in class. Cellphone or another electronic devise is used regularly, or student often converses with others during class. Reads non-course related material or prepares HW for other class. Regularly leaves class early.
