Does not meet standard. Physical traits are not included.
Feelings	Exceeds the Standard Describes characters feelings as they change in the story with evidence from the literature.	Meets the Standard Describes characters feelings for part of the story with some evidence.	Approaching the standard. Very few feelings are included without evidence.	Does not meet standard. Characters feelings are not addressed
Behavior	Exceeds the Standard Characters behavior is accurately described within the events of the story.	Meets the Standard Characters behavior is described without inclusion of events.	Approaching the standard. Some behaviors are described without including the events.	Does not meet standard. Behaviors are listed with out any description
Evidence	Exceeds the Standard Provides evidence about the character to prove all of the above.	Meets the Standard Provides some evidence about the character and proves some of the above. Grammar and Spelling	Exceeds the Standard The paper has one error in grammar or spelling. The errors do not detract from reading the paper. The paper has more than three errors in grammar or spelling.
