All elements of a story are included. There is a protagonist and an antogonist within the story. The Climax is clear and the subject matter is age appropriate.

The flow of the story is present throughout and the voice of the author is present throughout the story.

The flow of the story is present throughout, but the voice of the author is not present. It is unoriginal.
Satisfactory

Story is hard to follow at times and the elements of a story are missing at times. The voice of the author is present but not heard at times within the writing.
Emerging

Story does not have a protagonist or antagonist.
Story does not have a climax and does not relate to the overall theme of the assignment. The voice of the author is lost.
Illustrations

Students have illustrated or computer generated the appropriate pictures to accompany the writing on the pages.

Illustrations and details are present and connect to all the written pages. Details are extreme and great care went into each picture.
Proficient

Some illustrations are placed correctly and connected to the written pages. Detail to enhance the story is present.
Satisfactory

Illustrations are just placed on the page and are really not connected to the written page.

There are few to no illustrations.
