Introduction	Excellent Clever attention-getting introduction with a clear indication of the thesis and major points to be discussed.	Good Introduction orients the audience to topic and theme, but is not engaging. The audience has an idea of what is to follow.	Fair Introduction establishes the topic or the theme but not both. Not attention-getting.	Poor Introduction does not grab attention. There is not an easily identifiable thesis or idea of the major points to be discussed.
Voice	Excellent The author's purpose of writing/speech is very clear, and there is strong evidence of attention to audience.	Good The author's purpose of writing/speech is clear, and there is some evidence of attention to audience.	Fair The author's propose of writing/speech is somewhat clear, and there is evidence of attention to audience.
