Main Ideas	EXCELLENT Student response is complete, specific, and correct. Two main ideas are included for each article.	ABOVE AVERAGE Student response is accurate. Two main ideas are included for each article.	AVERAGE Student response is inaccurate. Two main ideas included for each article.	BELOW AVERAGE Student response is not correct, but is attempted. Only one main idea included for each article.
Supporting Detail	EXCELLENT Student response includes at least three key details from the passage that support the main ideas of the passage.	ABOVE AVERAGE Student response includes two key details from the passage that supports the main idea of the passage.	AVERAGE Student response includes one detail which does not support the correct main idea.	BELOW AVERAGE Student response includes details that does not support the main idea or missing all details.
Capitalization/Punction/Spelling	EXCELLENT Student does not have errors in capitalization/ punctuation/ spelling.	ABOVE AVERAGE Student less than 3 errors in capitalization/ punctuation/ spelling.
