Students will be given a location that is in a seismically active zone (volcanoes or earthquakes or both). Students will choose either the seismic risk or the eruption risk and detail what would happen should the nearest volcano erupt or a 7.5 earthquake occurred (human and evirnomental effect: short and long term. Explanation of why these effects occurred including the tectonic processes must be included. A short description of the location should also be included (population, climate, industry etc.). Presentation format to be determined by student but must incorporate all of the necessary elements in an easily understandable format.

Work quality/effort

Exceeds

The work done exceeds all expectations and shows that the learner is proud of his/her work. The effort that was put into this task is the best it can be by the learner.
Good

The work was done with good effort that shows what the learner is capable of. It is evident that time was put into this project.
Fair

Work is done with fair effort, but the quality is still not what the learner is capable of. It is evident that the work was rushed.
Poor

Work is done with little effort, quality is not what the learner is capable of. It is evident that the work was rushed and little time was spent on the final product. Work is incomplete.
Style/Mechanics

Exceeds

The project has an element of creativity and style,, and is not just a list of facts. The project is presented in a clear and concise manner with full understanding of the subject.
Good

The project is clear and logical and contains facts as well as very few mistakes. Good clear presentation.
Fair

The project lacks style and reads more like a list of facts than an oral group presentation. The project lacks neatness and clarity
Poor

The project lacks a clear understanding of the subject matter and their are many errors. Project is not creative.
