Journal Writing Rubric
	EXCELLENT 20 pts	GOOD 18 pts	FAIR 16 pts	POOR 14 pts
Ideas/Content	EXCELLENT Response shows deep insight. Details and examples support the topic. All ideas are related to the topic and explained well.	GOOD A logical conclusion or an opinion is offered. There are some details that support the topic.	FAIR Question is partially answered, but no reason is offered. Not always on topic.	POOR Information is missing or inaccurate. No details are shared.
Required Entries	EXCELLENT Twenty entries were made. The response includes why you felt this way and/or provided details that support your topic.	GOOD Twenty or less entries that were not all thorough; Answered the question, but did not give a reason, only a partial reason or did not provide details or only partial details	FAIR Fifteen or less entries and/or The question is only partly answered. Or, all entries are entered, but not fully completed.	POOR Less than fifteen entries, most of which are poorly completed.
Voice	EXCELLENT Writing is fluent and lively. Entry is clearly written with unique tone. The reader can get a strong sense of the writer's personality.	GOOD Writing is fluent. Sentences are complete but mostly explain ideas in a neutral tone. Some sense of the writer's personality.	FAIR Writing is mostly fluent, but sentences are short. Writer doesn't vary word use or sentence structure much. Readers can't tell much about the writer.	POOR Writing is very basic, sentences are short, no additional language is used to express ideas. Reader gets no sense of the writer's feelings or personality.
