Theme	Does Not Meet Proficiency The theme identified is weak. No proof is provided to support the them.	Partially Meets Proficiency The theme identified is moderately well written. The student provides two weak proofs but neither of them is a literary devices.	Meets Proficiency The theme identified is well written. The student provides two strong proofs but neither of them is a literary devices.	Exceeds Proficiency The theme identified is very well written. The student provides two strong proofs at least of them is a literary devices.
Main Idea/ Topic Sentence	Does Not Meet Proficiency Main idea / topic sentence in most paragraphs is some what unclear and incorrectly placed, and is not restated in the closing sentence.	Partially Meets Proficiency Main idea / topic sentence in some paragraphs is unclear and incorrectly placed, and is restated in the closing sentence.	Meets Proficiency Main idea / topic sentence in a few paragraphs is either unclear or incorrectly placed, and is restated in the closing sentence.	Exceeds Proficiency Main idea / topic sentence in all paragraphs are clear, correctly placed, and is restated in the closing sentence.

The student is able to analyze the two proof but does not support the theme.	Meets Proficiency Students somewhat explain the quotes. The student is able to analyze all the quotes, and at least two of them provides a strong support for the theme.	Exceeds Proficiency Students explain the quotes completely. The student is able to analyze all the quotes so that they strongly support the theme.
