Thesis 10 %	Inadequate No clear thesis. No reference to assigned topic or text.	Poor Thesis is unclear, vague or implied. The key information from the prompt is not included.	Fair Thesis needs focus / narrowing. The key information from the prompt is included.	Good Thesis is clear. The key information from the prompt is included.	Excellent Thesis is clear and woven into a short introduction; thesis is placed properly. All key information from the prompt is included.
Supporting Details 20 %	Inadequate Support is sketchy, vague, and repetitive. No reference made to text or main idea.	Poor Paper has no supporting detail sentences that relate back to the main idea.	Fair Parper has one supporting detail that somewhat relate back to the main idea.	Good Paper has one supporting detail that relate back to the main idea.	Excellent Paper has two or more supporting details that relate back to the main idea.
