Beginning Counts with manipulatives, but has slight confusion in using manipulatives. May over or under count units. Understand Concept of Subtraction	Proficient Is able to independently perform this task in the majority of problems given.	Developing Shows that she can perform the task, but occasionally needs more help from the teacher.	Beginning Is beginning to show ablility to perform the addition facts, but requires a lot of individual attention.	Not Yet Is very dependent upon the teacher to help with this task.
Symbol and Vocabulary	Proficient Independently recognizes and names symbols of addition problems: (-), (=) Independently switches between vocabulary: minus/less, makes/equals	Developing Can independently recognize subtraction symbols but may have trouble switching between vocabulary terms.	Beginning Usually needs some help identifying symbols and/or vocabulary terms.	Not Yet Depends heavily on teacher to identify and name subtraction symbols.
