Addition

Students will be able to identify the addition symbol (+) and process for correctly computing addition problems using manipulitives.

Simple Addition Facts

Counting	4 Student can independently identify, count and state numbers from 1-100.	3 Student can identify,state and count from 1- 30 with manipulatives.	2 Counts with manipulatives, but has slight confusion in organizing counters. May over or under count objects.	1 Student needs encouragement to organize counters to use 1-1 correspondence and requires adult supports to complete.
Understand the Concept of Addition	4 Student can independently solve single digit to single digit addition equations.	3 Students can add single digit to single digit equations however needs visuals to solve.	2 Student can begin to show ablility to perform the addition facts, but requires a lot of individual attention.	1 Student is very dependent upon the teacher to help with this task.
Symbol and Vocabulary	4 Student can independently recognizes and names symbols of addition problems: (+), (=) Independently switches between vocabulary: plus/and, makes/equals	3 Student can independently recognize addition symbols but may have trouble switching between vocabulary terms.	2 Student can identify addition symbol in a given equation when asked.	1 Student depends heavily on teacher to identify and name addition symbols.
Use of Manipulatives	4 Student can independently use the manipulatives to demonstrate correct addition process.	3 Student requires verbal and visual supports to use the manipulatives to solve correct addition equations.	2 Student can solve addition equations using manipulatives and demonstrates understanding of addition skills when giving limited assistance.	1 Student requires adult supports using manipulatives to solve single digit to single digit equations.
Follows Directions	4 The student is able to follow the directions independently and complete addition worksheet.	3 Student can follow the directions and completes addition worksheet with visuals cues needed( number line and/or objects).	2 Student can demonstrates following the directions and complete the assessment, with verbal and visual cues needed. At times, needs help from teacher.	1 Student is not able to follow the directions and complete the assignment even with the teacher's support.
