Effort	Beginning Student did not finish this project, or may be "done" but lacking required elements. May not be colored. Not much effort shown.	Developing Mandala is incomplete or may be "done" but shows little concern for quality. Student should have used more time to do a better job. Used little effort to do well. Some required elements may be missing.	Achieving Student finished with some concern for quality and pride in work is evident. Student mostly used the time well to do a good job.	Excelling Student finished the drawing with obvious care for quality. Student used time wisely and made a sincere effort to do quality work. All required elements are evident.
Creativity / Symbollism	Beginning Student's mandala lacks creativity and originality. Images are not symbolic, but literal. No colors	Developing Student's mandala shows some level of creativity, but little originality. Symbolism is limited.	Achieving Student's mandala shows a good level of creativity and originality. Symbols are clearly used. Colors are well chosen.	Excelling Design is original and creative Student's mandala shows exceptional use of creativity and originality in symbol and color choice.
Use of Symbols	Beginning Student included one or 2 symbols in the mandala.	Developing Student included a few symbols in the mandala.	Achieving Most of the required symbols were incorporated.	Excelling Student incorporated all required symbols into the mandala.
