Kaitlyns 21st Century Skills 
This rubric will be used to evaluate how a student works and participates during class time and how the student is able to use coping mechanisms in her school day.

Responsibility

Excellent -

Student SHOWED responsibility by being ready at the start of class. Always on time with needed materials and ready to learn. Raises hand to speak with no reminders.
Good

Student MOSTLY showed responsibility by being ready after a reminder to get started. Is mostly on time with needed materials. Raises hand to speak most of the time.
Fair

Student OCCASIONALLY showed responsibility but OCCASIONALLY blurts out during class and needs reminder to raise hand on a weekly basis. Is often late to class and missing some materials.
Poor

Student DID NOT show responsibility and respect during class. Interrupts others or the teacher when it is not her turn to talk. Is not meeting the expectations. Late on a daily basis and forgets class materials.
Handling Emotions & Self Control

Excellent -

Can use coping strategies and can self-monitor behavior.
Has been appropriate in class without needing teacher intervention.
Good

Is aware of feeling overwhelmed at times and knows some triggers. Has had to utilize a coping strategy to remove self from class less than two times a week.
Fair

Identifies feeling overwhelmed but not able to handle it at the time. Handles emotion inappropriately more than two times a week.
Poor

Is unaware of emotions and triggers. Has resulting behavior problems and tends to blame others. Chooses a negative reaction to peers/teacher.
Cooperation/flexibility

Excellent -

Always able to get along with peers and show flexibility in a positive manner. Has positive peer conversations when appropriate and shows interest in others around her.
Good

Mostly able to get along with peers and mostly able to be flexible when needed. Does not enter into conversations on a regular basis. But shows interest in others.
Fair

Usually understands need to get along with peers and usually shows flexibility. Occasionally has conversations with peers but mostly keeps to herself and does not show interest in others.
Poor

Rarely is able to get along with others and has conflict on daily basis.
Does not try to have a conversation or interact with peers at all.
