Deadlines 15 pts	Excellent Student completes all tasks on time/meets assigned deadlines	Good Student work is on-time, student might miss an occasional deadline, but contacts editors well before the missed deadline.	Fair Student work is MOSTLY on time, but student contacts editors well before the missed deadline.	Needs Improvement Student work is frequently late, and/or student does not contact editors before the missed deadline.	Poor Student rarely completes assignments or meets deadlines.
Story preparation 10 pts	Excellent Student consistently arrives each week prepared with well-researched, fleshed-out story ideas with strong news value. Always provides thoughtful ideas and participates in discussions and/or activities.	Good Student arrives each Wednesday with ideas that need a little research or assistance. Frequently provides thoughtful ideas and participates in discussions and/or activities.	Fair Student sometimes arrives with unresearched story ideas or stories that have weak news value. Sometimes contributes general comments and participates in discussions and/or activities. Does not always come prepared to work and/or engage in group activities.	Needs Improvement Student often arrives with no story ideas. Rarely provides comments and participates in discussions and/or activities. Sometimes is disruptive in class.	Poor Student offers no ideas for assignments. Provides no comments or input in weekly assignment meetings. Often disruptive in class meeting.
Participation 15 pts	Excellent Always is productive and responsible in collaborative tasks. Is able to constructively engage interpersonal issues with other group members. May assume a leadership role. Perfect attendance or misses one class.	Good Frequently productive and responsible in collaborative tasks. Is usually able to constructively engage interpersonal issues with other group members. May assume a leadership role with varying degrees of success. Has two unexcused absences.	Fair Sometimes productive and responsible in collaborative tasks. May have some interpersonal issues with others in the group, but has difficulty engaging them constructively. Has three unexcused absences.	Needs Improvement Rarely contributes to group and collaborative activities. Does just enough work to get by. May have some interpersonal issues with others in the group, but has difficulty engaging them constructively. Has 4 unexcused absences.	Poor Is not productive in group/collaborative activities and relies on others to complete task. Has 5 or more unexcused absences.

Falls below expectations of skills. Contributes little to overall product.	Poor Falls well below expectations of work assignments and skills. Makes very little contribution to overall product.
Volunteering for assignments 10 pts	Excellent Actively volunteers for a variety of assignments and media	Good Volunteers for assignments within one medium, but seeks to work within two media.	Fair Volunteers for assignments within one medium and occasionally accepts assignments for other media.	Needs Improvement Reluctantly accepts assignments.	Poor Does not volunteer for assignments.
WordPress blog 15 pts	Excellent Weekly blog entries are insightful, detailed and up-to-date.	Good Weekly blog entries are somewhat detailed and insightful. Some entries are a few days late.	Fair Weekly blog entries give basic information of completed work. Many entries are several days late.	Needs Improvement Blog entries lack detail. Most entries are not up-to-date.	Poor Blog is only updated monthly or less.
