Class Newspaper 
Together as a class you will create the 5 major sections of a newspaper. You will be placed in groups of 4-5. Each groups will work on a section of the paper in its entirety. The five sections that will be included in our Newspaper will be, News, Sports, Entertainment, Opinion and Classifieds. They will present their section of the paper as a group.

Excellent

At least 3 total photos relating to the story and inclusive of a caption that reflects the image in the photo. Must be laid out and fit into the newspaper correctly. Needs to be creative and look great.

At least 3 total photos. The photos may or may not fully relate to the story. Includes a caption that may or may not reflect the photo. The layout will be appropriate and fit the paper.

Has at least 2 photos and 2 captions that may or may not relate to the stories. Fits layout of the paper.

Student is very creative and the Newspaper was very well thought out. They wrote interesting and captivating stories with beautiful photos. Advertisements were unique and artistic.

Student is creative and the Newspaper was somewhat thought out. The stories were good and the photos included were interesting. Advertisements looked great and contained some thought.
Satisfactory

Student is creative but rushed the Newspaper to get it done. The photos and stories are not well thought out but okay. Advertisements are not original, borrowed from others.

The newspaper does not seem to be well thought out. The stories and photos are bland. The work is rushed and shows little to no creativity.

The advertisements are creative and well thought out. They are new products made up and unique to our world. The art work is beautiful and shows creativity.

The advertisements are creative and unique. They are adapted from something current. They are neat but not perfect.

The advertisements are not creative and just plain. The group did not take their time to work on this aspect and rushed it to get it done. They do not make sense.

Each student presents their material but not for the required 2 minutes. They rush and and do not always speak loud or clear enough for the audience to hear them. They use little to no eye contact.

The group works fluently and well together with every single member contributing 100% of the time, The Editor-in-Chief keeps the group on task and helping one another out during the process. The group exemplifies organization and creativity together.

The group works well together with all members contributing most of the time. The Editor-in-Chief keeps the group on task for the most part and they work well together during the process. The group is organized and creative.
Satisfactory

The group has some issues working together. Some team members do not contribute all of the time to the project. The Editor-in-Chief struggles to keep them focused and wanting to work together to be successful. The group is not always organized, and may be slow to get going each day.
Needs Improvement

The group does not get along and has problems staying focused and on task. They fall behind on a daily basis due to the lack of leadership from the Editor-in-Chief. They are not organized and they miss deadlines.

Newspaper Layout

Excellent

The newspaper layout is neat, organized, uses all of the space and fits perfectly into the paper provided. All aspects are attached squarely and look great.

The newspaper layout is neat and organized. It may not fit 100% but it is close. The aspects are almost square and look good.

The newspaper layout is acceptable but not neat. The layout is rushed and not square, parts of it are not fitting into the paper. Looks okay but not good.
Needs Improvement

The newspaper layout is sloppy and rushed. It does not fit the paper provided and looks poor.
