Art students should be able to successfully critique artwork using terminology that is understandable and relevant.

Students completed a self portrait. They had some freedom in the materials they used and how they created their self portrait. If they chose to create a self portrait in an alternative style (manga, cartoon, zoomed in area of face, or 4 up close areas of face, etc) they were to discuss with teacher and create self portrait with good craftsmanship and effort.

You will complete a self assessment using this rubric once you have completed your mini masterpiece. I will review your score and make any necessary adjustments to determine your final grade.

Value Composition. The composition demonstrates the students ability to create the Illusion of volume or form using the element of Art: Value and the principle of composition. Value is added to the contour drawing using one or more of the following methods: tonal, stippling, and prisma color shading. Composition shows at least 3-4 values of shading and includes the 5 Principles of Shading: highlight, shade, shadow, reflected light and backshading.
