RJHS Christmas Poster Lighten Up Lincoln Poster Value Composition. The composition demonstrates the students ability to create the Illusion of volume or form using the element of Art: Value and the principle of composition. Value is added to the contour drawing using one or more of the following methods: tonal, stippling, and prisma color shading. Composition shows at least 3-4 values of shading and includes the 5 Principles of Shading: highlight, shade, shadow, reflected light and backshading. Most of the objects have a clear sense of volume.	BELOW AVERAGE Composition fills 50% or less of the paper. Composition is not well planned and ojects are not logically placed. Some (at least half of) objects have a clear sense of volume.	IN-PROGRESS No clear thought to composition- appears to be a sketch or study Composition fills less than 50% of the paper. No sense of volume.
