Elementary Self Portrait 6th Grade Elementary Self Portrait 6th Grade Students completed a self portrait. They had some freedom in the materials they used and how they created their self portrait. If they chose to create a self portrait in an alternative style (manga, cartoon, zoomed in area of face, or 4 up close areas of face, etc) they were to discuss with teacher and create self portrait with good craftsmanship and effort. Self Portraits
	Exceeding 10 pts	Accomplished 8.5 pts	Developing 7 pts	Unfinished/Unsatisfactory 5 pts
Features	Exceeding Portrait is VERY carefully drawn; ALL features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, ears, neck and shoulders) drawn in correct proportion and the portrait.	Accomplished Portrait is carefully drawn, has all features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, ears, neck and shoulders) in correct proportion.	Developing Portrait lacks features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, and ears), or features are drawn out of proportion. Neck and shoulders are not included or drawn sloppily.	Unfinished/Unsatisfactory Does not finish the self portrait, or rushes at the end to get it done. Much detail is missing.
Competency	Exceeding GREAT understanding of drawing a human head. Value and shading is exceptional (head, neck, and shoulders are three dimensional)	Accomplished Understanding of the "rules" of drawing a human head are aparent. Value and shading is used correctly, and features are proportional to the size of the head.	Developing Lack of understanding of the "rules" of drawing a human head. Features are not in the right spots, and/or are not drawn in proportion to the size of the head.	Unfinished/Unsatisfactory Unfinished or unsatisfactory. Most features are not recognizable.
Craftsmanship	Exceeding The materials are used and applied VERY skillfully.	Accomplished The student uses and applies the materials appropriately.	Developing The use of materials and application is basic.	Unfinished/Unsatisfactory Materials and techniques incorrectly used.
Effort	Exceeding Class time is used VERY WELL Respect to fellow students, the teacher, and materials is VERY evident throughout the entire class.	Accomplished The project is finished in the class time allowed. The student works well.	Developing Class time is NOT USED WELL. Student is often off task and not respectful of fellow students, the teacher, and/or materials.	Unfinished/Unsatisfactory Little or no effort for this project demonstrated.
