GD 1

The student will present facts about a famous structure/building, find 4-8 images, facts about its artistic relevance, style and history.

The students will use learned clay building skills to create a character mug or a 3 piece set expressing their own unique creativity. Art standard: S1B1 Incorporate a variety of technical skills for personal expression.

Students use the slab hand building method with a mask mold to make a clay mask expressing their own unique creativity.

The student will create a short clip using Stop Motion techniques. That movie will be eligible to participate in the Stop Motion Awards 3 ceremony where some judges will choose the best videos. Stop motion (also known as stop frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Dolls with movable joints or clay figures are often used in stop motion for their ease of repositioning. Stop motion animation using plasticine is called clay animation or "clay mation" and there are some other techniques.

The student will present facts about a famous sculpture, find 4-8 images, facts about its artistic relevance, style and history.

The student will present the biography of a famous artist, find 5 to 10 of his/her works of art and discuss what lead this person to become a well known artist.

Students will create a cup using slab techniques.

Students create ceramic containers using slab construction inspired by a famous piece of artwork or architecture

The students researched famous artist Michaelangelo and wrote a short biographical paper.

The student will present the biography of a famous German-speaking artist and find at least 5 of his/her works of art, of which one will be described and analyzed for meaning.

Students choose a piece of artwork that interests them, read a biography/background of the artist and attempt to infer what the artists' intention of the piece was, the message the artist intended with the artwork, or a story to represent the artwork.
