A rubric that properly evaluates the artistic process of using colored pencils as an artistic medium. It measures the various phases and approaches that are necessary in the assessment of a project or a work of art-burnishing, blending, form, proportion, scale.

After the Elements and Principles of Art unity you will be asked to be to name all the elements and principles of art as well as know, describe, and demonstrate examples. In this assessment students will work on demonstrating the Elements and Principles by drawing and using materials in the classroom. While students are working they will be called up one by one and be asked to name and give examples of each element and principle.

This rubric is used to compare full perspective and limited perspective.

Students create interior room in One Point Perspective

Create a CD cover that looks like a CD cover. Be sure you include a title (song name) and the individual or groupname. Be creative and make sure the finished product is a reflection of what the lyrics mean to you.

After creating a collage students will be assessed on 4 different aspects: (1) Collage, (2) Elements of Design, (3) Craftsmanship, (4) Student Engagement

Value Composition in Graphite and/or Color Pencils Composition demonstrates students ability to create an Illusion of volume/form using the element of Art:Value/ principle of composition. Composition uses all shapes/forms studied that overlap; value is added to the contour drawing using one or more of the methods taught in class (value scale only)Composition shows at least 3-4 values of shading and includes the 5 Principles of Shading: highlight, shade, shadow, reflected light and backshading.

Students will create a 5 space value scale and using graphite pencils to effectively demonstrate how to create a variety of values that move steadily from light to dark using hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and blended shading.

Using a digital photo of a masterwork, grid the photo in a half inch inch grid. Then create a one inch grid on your illustration board to transfer your drawing to. After transferring your drawing using the grid, use two different mediums and color/shade your drawing. You will be graded on if you incorporate your own personal artistic style, use composition and design, craftsmanship, and effort.

Students will create a 5 space value scale and use drawing pencils to effectively demonstrate how to create a variety of values that move steadily from black to gray to white. There will be a total of 4 scales: #2, General, 2H and Ink-stipple, hatch or cross-hatch

A rubric that properly evaluates the artistic process. It measures the various phases, research and approaches that are necessary in the assessment of Batik art produced by student.

Students will create graffiti piece that illustrates their name and includes an inspirational message using Keith Harring symbols. It will include a word, symbol and a background.

Using a digital photo, grid the photo in a 1 inch grid. Then create a 1 inch grid on your drawing paper to transfer your drawing to (square by square). You will be graded on if you incorporate at least 7 values in your composition and design, craftsmanship, and effort.

After studying the handout on the element of line, students were asked to draw a fall still life, using contour lines to create the shapes of the gourds, corn and pumpkins, then they were to paint the still life in watercolor paint to complete the drawing. The point of the contour line was to enable the student to create the illusion of three dimensions. The success of the painting hinged on furthering that look with careful use of overlapping line, drawing the mat the objects were placed on drawing a horizon line to keep the objects from floating, using creativity in the background to create an interesting painting. The time allowed for this project was a week and two days, thus enabling every student to have a chance at success.
