Shows good use of contour line to create the sense of volume and depth of the gourds, corn, and pumpkins in the still life

LEVEL 1

No care or very little care was given to application of line.<BR>
Line was sloppy or quickly sketched in.
LEVEL 2

Line was sometimes drawn with sensitivity and variation but was not consistently interesting or was impatiently applied in some areas. There was no use of the details in the gourds and corn to create a sense of dimension. Interior lines did not follow exterior lines to create roundness.
LEVEL 3

Student used of the quirkiness of the gourds and corn to draw details that helped further the effect of the 3-D of the objects. The use of overlapping also helped.
LEVEL 4

The student used many aspects of detail of the objects that created a much heightened sense of realism. Many details add to the richness and interesting effect, including details from the mats the objects were placed on, shadows, textures, etc.
Craftsmanship/ Finish
50 pts

Skillful use of paint, further enchances the sense of 3D created by the use of line orininally. Color, and texture are varied and interesting, and the painting is highly crafted and polished looking.

Media is used incorrectly or without refinement, drawing is unfinished or appears messy and needs attention. Presentation has not been considered.<BR>
Student did not use class time wisely. Had to remind student to stay on task on a daily basis.<BR>
The project was completed with minimum effort.
LEVEL 2

Media is used fairly well but could be improved or cleaned up. Some areas of the drawing may need further attention. The student finished the project, but it could have been improved with more effort.
LEVEL 3

Media is used carefully and skillfully and the drawing is completely finished. Student used class time well. The student worked hard and completed the project, but with a little more effort it might have been outstanding.
LEVEL 4

Student used class time to their advantage.<BR>
The project was continued until it was as complete as the student could make it; gave effort far beyond that required; took pride in going well beyond the requirements.
