Student has a body paragraph or paragraphs but does not used well thought-out reasons, examples details or reasons to support their opinion.

Student has a body paragraph or paragraphs which use some details, examples, information or reasons to support their opinion.
Excellent
Student has more than one body paragraph which clearly states a supporting sentence and backs it up with a cohesive argument using details, examples, reasons or information.
Conclusion
Poor
Student does not have a concluding paragraph, or one that can be clearly distinguished by the marker.
Fair
Student has a concluding paragraph that does not summarize the argument being made or make a concluding statement.
Good
The student briefly summarizes the argument being made and makes a concluding statement.
Excellent
The student has a concluding paragraph which effectively summarizes the argument and makes a clear concluding statement
Cohesion
Poor
Student did not express an opinion about the topic or made an unclear expression of opinion.
Fair
Ask some inappropriate questions for information or answered question with very limited answers.
Good
Gave appropriate questions for survey information but responses were limited in content.
Excellent
The essay clearly states an opinion about the topic, defends it with supporting evidence and supported the evidence with reasons, information, detail or examples. It has an introduction, body, and conclusion and follows the argument in a clear and thoughtful manner.
