Botany/Zoology/Earth Studies	Excellent Portfolio contains more than three completed pieces of work.	Good Portfolio contains three completed pieces of work.	Fair Portfolio contains two completed pieces of work.	Poor Portfolio contains one pieces of work and has an incomplete research plan.	Unsatisfactory Portfolio contains no pieces of work and no research plan.
Research	Excellent Portfolio contains more than one completed research plan.	Good Portfolio contains one completed research plan.	Fair Portfolio contains one completed research plan which is missing one piece of the writing process.	Poor Portfolio contains one completed research plan which is missing two or more pieces of the writing process.	Unsatisfactory Portfolio contains no completed research plan.
Organization	Excellent Portfolio is very neat and logically organized.	Good Portfolio is mostly neat and logically organized.	Fair Portfolio is not very neat and/or has one or two elements that are not logically organized.	Poor Portfolio is not neat and/or has three or more elements not logically organized.	Unsatisfactory Portfolio is not neat and/or organized.
Knowledge Displayed	Excellent Portfolio demonstrates a mastery of knowledge in subject area.	Good Portfolio demonstrates advanced knowledge in subject area.	Fair Portfolio demonstrates basic understanding of knowledge in subject area.	Poor Portfolio demonstrates an approaching basic understanding of knowledge in subject area.	Unsatisfactory Portfolio demonstrates an unsatisfactory understanding of knowledge in subject area.
Potential	Excellent Portfolio accurately represents student's capacity and potential and demonstrates diligence and responsibility.	Good Portfolio represents student's capacity and potential, yet demonstrates a slight lack of diligence and responsibility.	Fair Portfolio represents student's capacity and potential, yet demonstrates a strong lack of diligence and responsibility, as shown in student work samples.	Poor Portfolio represents a desire by the student to simply complete a portfolio that includes the requirements, yet does not represent the students best abilities.	Unsatisfactory Portfolio does not represent the student's potential or capacity.
