Celebration and Traditions Placemat Task 
Students are to write facts, details about eaach tradition in a separate quadrant. Include who, what, where, when, how one might celebrate the holiday. Connecting ideas/details from class/school and family events to support the celebration.

Conventions

Level 1

Many spelling errors including: reversals, missing key sounds making writing difficult to read.Missing punctuation or used incorrectly.
Level 2

Some errors in spelling, some phonetic spelling of unknown words. No excuse words are not spelled correctly.
Level 3

Few spelling errors. Unkown words are spelled phonetically correct. No excuse words are spelled correctly. A variety of punctuation.
Level4

No errors in spelling. A variety of conventions that are applied correclty
Neatness/presentation

Level 1

Work is messy, dirty and inapprioriate sized letters. (Inappropriate use of space). Drawings a simple, stick figure and no color.
Level 2

Work is somewhat neat, appears rushed, some attempt at detail (i.e. drawings not syick figure but unclear of what it is about).
Level 3

Work is neat, tidy, easy to read.
Level4

Work is neat, tidy, easy to read and extra pitures and color is included to support ideas and writing.
