Character Interview Character Interview Based on Code Orange by Caroline Cooney Interview a character from The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle either as a newscaster (on television) or in a magazine article. The newscast will be presented as if being aired, and the magazine article will be written out as if in a magazine. Character Interview

Introduction An introduction of the character being interviewed is included at the beginning of the presentation.	Poor An introduction to the interview was not included.	Fair The introduction only stated the character's name (no background information).	Good The introduction stated the character's name. Details describing the character were present, but not specific or too far-fetched.	Excellent The introduction gave a good description of the character being interviewed. Details and examples from the text were used to give the audience a clear picture of who was being interviewed.
Interview Questions The questions were relevant to chapters 1-12 of the novel.	Poor Questions were irrelevant to Chapters 1-12 of The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle.	Fair The questions in the presentation were simple, literal questions and did not vary much.	Good The questions in the presentation varied, but focused too much on simple ideas.	Excellent The questions varied in type and were relevant to Chapters 1-12. Higher thinking questions (not just a basic "What happened?") were used and answered correctly.
Oral/Written Presentation The presentation showed comprehension of the text. The presentation was fluent and easy to follow.	Poor The presentation showed little to no comprehension of the text. The oral language or written language was hard to follow.	Fair Conversation is somewhat limited (shows a lack of understanding of the text). Several grammatical errors in written interview (unintentional).	Good Conversation had relevent questions and showed knowledge and deeper thinking, but wasn't well organized. Few grammatical errors in written interview (unintentional).	Excellent Interview Questions and Answers show the students understand the literal meaning of the text and they were able to draw inferences from the reading. The presentation was fluent and easy to follow. No grammatical errors in written interview (unintentional).
