Clarity/ Volume	Poor Speech was not understandable. Very few or no breaks in speech. Start of new ideas very unclear.	Fair Speech was not loud enough to be understood most of the time. Word/sentence breaks not distinguishable. Start of new ideas unclear.	Good Speech was loud enough to understand. On occasion words/sentence breaks were not distinguishable. Start of new ideas occasionally unclear.	Excellent Speech was loud. There were clear breaks between words, sentences, and ideas.
Pronunciation	Poor Pronunciation very unclear. Speech completely uncomprehensible.	Fair Pronuncation is often unclear. Most main ideas are comprehensibile.	Good Pronuncation occasionally unclear. Main ideas comprehensible.	Excellent Pronunciation clear and comprehensible.
Fluency	Poor Speech very choppy and little to no intonation.	Fair Speech was somewhat choppy and had little intontaion.	Good Speech was occasionally choppy and intonation was usually used.	Excellent Speech flowed nicely and had good intonation.
Time	Poor Speech took too long or was too short to be effective.	Fair Speech lasted longer than was necissary or shorter than necissary to be effective.	Good Speech was just under or just over the time limit but it was effective.	Excellent Speech was exactly in the time limit
Content/ Prep	Poor Student did not answer at least half the questions. Speech was not prepared.	Fair Some questions were not answered or lacked completeness. Speech lacked rehersal.	Good All questions were answered but lacked completeness and speech lacked rehersal.	Excellent All questions were answered completely and the speech was well rehersed.
