Facts and Sources	Level 4 Students displays a variety of correct facts (At least 10). All Student resources are legitimate and cited within research paper.	Level 3 Student displays a variety of mostly correct facts(At least 8). Good use of legitimate resources but only some are cited within research paper.	Level 2 Student displays facts(At least 6), mostly correct. Some use legitimate resources and very little are cited within research paper.	Level 1 Students displays a variety of correct facts (At least 4). Student uses resources that may not be legitimate and are not cited within research paper.
Research and Understanding	Level 4 Student did significant research and it is entirely in their own words. Student demonstrates a deep understanding of their project.	Level 3 Student did a lot of research and it is presented in their own words. Student shows a clear understanding of their project.	Level 2 Student did some research but most information is not in their words. Student shows little understanding of their project.	Level 1 Student did inadequate research. Student does not understand their own project.
Essay	Level 4 Essay is structured very well and provides meaning to the research information included. Writer informs the reader in their own words and includes many details to support understanding.	Level 3 Essay is structured properly to provide meaning to the research information included and shows understanding of the topic in the writer's own words.	Level 2 Essay has some structure and some information on topic but shows minimal understanding of topic in the writer's own words.	Level 1 Writing is not structured properly and provides little information on topic.
Project setup	Level 4 Followed all directions for set up. Project is very well organized and tidy. Research essay coincides well with "authentic you" and symbolic representation chosen by student.	Level 3 Followed most directions for set up. Project is well organized and mostly tidy. Research essay shows some connection to "authentic you" and symbolic representation chosen by student.	Level 2 Followed some directions given for set up. Project needs some organizational improvement and could be tidied up. Research essay shows very little connection to "authentic you" and symbolic representation chosen by student.	Level 1 Did not follow directions for set up. Project layout is unorganized and messy. Research essay shows no connection to "authentic you" and symbolic representation chosen by student.
